Spin Class! and my new camera

Spin class night - 55 minutes of high intensity interval spinning on a stationery bike - how much more fun can it get? :-)

But it was a good workout, as always, and a fairly large group again, over 20 people in a room of 30 bikes. Our trainer Natalie is great at motivating everyone on a Thursday night and had a good range of music to spin to. "Rode" 24 kms with several "climbs" in the 50+ minutes so it was a good, hard workout.

On another note, time to start prepping my "new" camera - a Nikon D5300 with my old Tamron 18-200mm to replace my old Nikon D3100. New, as in, got it about two months ago even though it's an older model, but I have not had a chance to even give it a test run yet. And our trip to Japan is just over a week away! Now I have to decide if I want to being a second lens, a smaller, Nikkor 35mm f1.8 prime lens. I guess it could be useful having a faster lens for some places a flash would not be welcome.

I don't really need the most up to date, state of the art camera. Just something to upgrade my newbie D3100 that's about 5 years old and showing it's age after 10,000+ shots. The D5300 has Wifi and GPS on top of a better sensor and more autofocus points, so it's a little bit of an upgrade.

The Wifi feature should be really handy, not just to quickly share photos, but also for remote shots when used together with Nikon's Wireless Mobile Utility app for Android and iOS.

Will it help me produce better shots? Time will tell ;-p
